Now that we're a little further in the book, I'd like you to choose another question to respond to. This time, in your response, please write 3-5 sentences, and spend a little more time on it. What I mean by that is pretend it's being graded for spelling, capitalization, etc. It's easy when we're online to not use standard English, but for classroom blog posts, I'd like you to focus on it. It's important to know what it's okay to not capitalize and when it isn't. For example, I don't capitalized anything in my personal emails to my friends. But I would never send an email to our principal without checking my capitalization. I want you to start being aware of your choices online.
Now, for the questions:
1. What do you think of Leo's choice to follow Stargirl? What does it make you think about him?
2. What do you think will happen next? Jerry Spinelli left us with sort of an ominous statement at the end of the chapter: "How could I have known that he would soon be challenged by a freckle-nosed homeschooler?"
3. Think again about Peet compared to Mica High. When Hillari Kimble and Wayne Parr are described, do you think of any similarities? Please don't name names, but feel free to comment on if you think there are similar leaders at Peet.

2. I think that Wayne Parr won't be the center of the school anymore. I think Stargirl is going to start to encourage people to be different and stand out. She'll become the center of the school, and soon everyone will be acting like her by being different than everyone else, changing Mica High to the exact opposite of what it was.
ReplyDeleteI think that leo is right to follow stargirl, but he shouldn't have took the mail from the mail box. I think that there would be a problem between a freckled faced kid and him. Peet and Mica high are kinda alike but a little different. I do think there are similar leaders at peet.
ReplyDeleteI think it was wrong for Leo to follow stargirl because it is spying on someones personal life. I also think what Leo did to the mail that stargirl gave was inapproprite because it is that person's buisness and that person's alone. So after what Leo did it makes me think of him as a stalker and very invading to other people's privacy.
ReplyDeleteI think that Leo made a very brave choice to follow her becuase in reality most boys would problably not follow strange girls that they really don't know. Now I think that Leo might be involving a little crush on Stargirl becuase she is so different. And when Leo opened the piece of mail that Stargirl gave to that person was a very curious gesture that means that he is just trying to figure Stargirl out. So I kind of made a new respect for Leo at this point becuase he was not afraid to follow her and learn more about Stargirl.
ReplyDeleteIn Peet Junior High, I do not think that there are any leaders as strong as the ones as Hillari Kimble and Wayne Parr. Sure, there are popular people, but everyone seems to go their own direction. I might be wrong, but everyone is automatically divided into their little group without choosing, and always seem to rub evenly with the people they happen to end up with. You here about everyone just as much as you hear about everyone else, but they are all not alike. Different people have different bold personalities, and different ways of going about problems. When teachers try to get people involved, not one shows up, following someone similar to Wayne Parr. Most people don't care about what people they don't know think about them, and most people only care about what their friends think about them.
ReplyDeleteI think people will start to follow in stargirls ways. Her antics will eventualy catch on, and sooner or later people will join in. I am very exited to find out what happens next and i hope we read again very soon!!!
ReplyDeletei liked the story today cause it made me laugh because stargirl was on the football field instead of in the stands. Also it was so funny when she made the leader of the cheerleading squad look bad. P.S, I liked the part where she likes leo. Thanks for reading to us.

I think it was wrong that Leo followed her but I don't blame. I believe Leo is a nice, popular guy who wants to know the truth. I think stargirl will become a school leader and inspiration.

I don't think Leo should have followed stargirl. That makes him seem kind of creepy. well, i commented late so i already know what happened:) I think there are some leadars at Peet most definitly! When i say leadars i guess i mean people who kind of talk to everyone and try to get along with them.

ReplyDeleteI understand that Leo wants to follow stargirl. I just don't think that it is the right thing to do. I really don't think that he should have taken mail from the mail box. I think that maybe stargirl might catch Leo trying to take something from her or stargirl might figure out that he is trying to get something out of her but she wont really care. I do think that there are some similarities at Peet.
ReplyDeleteLeo probably was REALLY curious so he thought that he would just follow her home. but I'm really surprised that he followed her that far... i mean he went onto the highway and through the desert and everything. he probably thought if that he saw her home he could figure her out easier.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for your comments. For some reason it doesn't creep me out that much that Leo followed Stargirl. I guess I just get a good vibe from him. I'm also interested in what Hillari Kimble will do next, and if Stargirl will care. I'm glad to see that so many of you think that Mica is different than Peet. My junior high experience was a lot like Mica High, except we had more school spirit. People were still pretty wary of anything that was a little bit different.

ReplyDeleteI think it was kind of creepy that he followed her, but i think it makes the book more suspiscious. Also it shows leos really brave and not afriad to do what he wants. It also makes me think that Leo is really curious espcially since he followed star girl:)

ReplyDeleteI think that it is interesting that Leo is following stargirl. He may find some cool, interesting, or odd stuff out about her. It makes it seem that he is a little interested in her and wants to know more about her.
